【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodcoversthequantitativedeterminationofthedistributionofparticlesizesinsoils.Thedistributionofparticlesizeslargerthan75956;m(retainedontheNo.200sieve)isdeterminedbysieving,whilethedistributionofparticlesizessmallerthan75956;misdeterminedbyasedimentationprocess,usingahydrometertosecurethenecessarydata(Note1andNote2).Note1SeparationmaybemadeontheNo.4(4.75956;m),No.40(425956;m),orNo.200(75956;m)sieveinsteadoftheNo.10.Forwhateversieveused,thesizeshallbeindicatedinthereport.Note2Twotypesofdispersiondevicesareprovided:(1)ahigh-speedmechanicalstirrer,and(2)airdispersion.Extensiveinvestigationsindicatethatair-dispersiondevicesproduceamorepositivedispersionofplasticsoilsbelowthe20-msizeandappreciablylessdegradationonallsizeswhenusedwithsandysoils.Becauseofthedefiniteadvantagesfavoringairdispersion,itsuseisrecommended.Theresultsfromthetwotypesofdevicesdifferinmagnitude,dependinguponsoiltype,leadingtomarkeddifferencesinparticlesizedistribution,especiallyforsizesfinerthan20m.
