【摘要】:Thispracticeoutlinesirradiatorinstallationqualificationanddosimetricprocedurestobefollowedintheirradiationofbloodandbloodproductsbytheblood-bankingcommunity.Iffollowed,theseprocedureswillhelptoensurethattheproductsprocessedwithionizingradiationfromgamma,bremsstrahlungX-raysorelectronsourcesreceiveabsorbeddoseswithinapredeterminedrange.Thispracticecoversdosimetryfortheirradiationofbloodforthesetypesofirradiators;self-containeddry-storage137Csor60Coirradiators(free-standingirradiators),teletherapyunits,self-containedbremsstrahlungX-rayunitsandelectronaccelerators.Theabsorbeddoserangeforbloodirradiationistypically15Gyto50Gy.Thispracticealsocoverstheuseofradiation-sensitiveindicatorsforthevisualandqualitativeindicationthattheproducthasbeenirradiated.Thispracticeisintendedforusebytechnicallyandnon-technicallyorientedpeople.It,therefore,containsmoretutorialinformationthanmanyotherASTMdosimetrystandards.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
